Federal and state authorities said Monday they have settled with an Ohio-based mobile app maker accused of infecting thousands of consumers' Android smartphones and tablets with malicious software. A gaming rewards app called Prized allegedly infected devices with malware that harnessed the processing power of multiple users' devices so the app's developers could electronically mine for virtual currencies such as Litecoin, Dogecoin and Quarkcoin, which are used to buy goods and services from merchants that accept them.
